2020 E-File Rejection

I just e-filed my 2020, however my 2019 is still processing (per the IRS website), I had to mail it in last year due to stimulus issues. I refiled my 2020 as my AGI was correct and I needed to "create" my pin this time, correct? Or is this a pin from last year that i dont recall needing to create.

The 2019 tax return is not impacted by stimulus payments. The first two stimulus payments are reported on the 2020 tax return.

The Self-Select PIN could be the same from year to year. It can be used as a substitute to entering last year's adjusted gross income (AGI).

What is the difference between the five-digit Self-Select PIN I created last year and my Self-Select PIN this year?

I never said the 2019 return was impacted by the stimulus. I advised due to the stimulus, I needed to manually paper file my 2019 returns via mail.

It's possible.  First you should try to e-file using zero as your AGI since the 2019 tax return is still processing. This is the notation on the IRS page.

  • If your 2019 tax return has not yet been processed, enter $0 (zero dollars) for your prior year adjusted gross income (AGI).

If necessary, you can request an PIN to file your return.
