1099g

I won and paid gambling taxes to Iowa in 2015. I live in Illinois. I paid some taxes to Illinois too with my 2015 1099g filing that I did not complete till 2019. I received a refund from Iowa in 2019. How do I answer my question...how much totally did I pay or withhold to state? Which state are they wanting? I filed these winnings/taxes in both states.

Since the refund came from Iowa, the question is asking about the taxes and withholding paid to Iowa.

This sounds logical. I did file a 1040 with Iowa as a non resident so it was minimal. I was only recouping some of my taxes. Unfortunately Illinois turned around and took most of this return back from me. This is what confused me. As I understand it, this will now be income I have to report on my 2019 Federal. Since I really did not keep most of the refund, this is why I thought I should also report what I paid out to Illinois?
