I am from Texas and I have my traditional IRA account from TD Ameritrade which is in Omaha as per the TIN information provided in my 1099-R form. I did a traditional IRA to Roth conversion (converted my non taxed money which I had in traditional IRA to Roth IRA), in 1099-R form Box #16 State Distribution has amount against it.
Question: Having amount in box 16 for state distribution is correct? I am from Texas, want to make sure I am not paying extra taxes
P.S. I did a backdoor roth conversion it doesn't have box 16 with any value.
Is there any withholding in Box 14? Anything in 15? It is probably referring to TX which doesn't have a state income tax, so TurboTax will ignore it if your residence is TX.
Thanks for your response. Both 14 and 15 are empty. Does that mean turbo tax of 1099-R didn't account state tax?
