1099 NEC Shows up in Schedule C business incvome and expenses

I entered a 1099NEC amount 1099 Misc and Other Common income on the 1099NEC line but that shows up as zero in the main view if I click update I see the amount I entered Further down in Business items.  That triggered a whole buisness schedule C thing where I needed to create a job code and a "business" under my own name.  It all happended automatically but then on checking my return there is a whole slew of errors I needed to correct.  AM I doing this right?

Since you received a Form 1099-NEC, that income is considered self-employment. ‌This is the reason why the program is directing you to the business section. You will need to report it on your return on ‌Schedule C. You can also you can report any expenses you had while doing this work. ‌When you fill out your information for Schedule C, the program will ask what kind of work you are doing.
