1099-Misc

I received a 1099-misc for a class action lawsuit settlement. The 1099-Misc has income in box 3 "other income" box 10 "gross attorney fees". I put that $0 of the gross attorney fees are taxable but when I try to file it is saying that there is an error because I haven't filled out a schedule C to report the gross attorney fees. However, I am not self-employed. How can I fix this so that I can e-file my return?

According to the IRS instruction for the Form 1099-MISC, you don't have to report an amount form the box 10 on your tax return. You can just repot amount form box 3 as Other income and leave the box 10 blank.
