1099-misc working for a 501c3

I am a college student and worked at the university call alum to update records and get donations.  My pay was reported on a 1099-misc.  No taxes were taken out, but now I have to pay taxes.

I didn't make enough to pay taxes on a part time job, should I have to pay taxes on the 1099-misc income?

Thank you

Income reported on Form 1099-MISC is self-employment income. If you made more than $400 of self-employment income you have to pay self-employment tax, even if it's not enough to have to pay any income tax. Self-employment tax and income tax are two separate taxes, even though they are both included on your income tax return.

It makes no difference that the organization you worked for was a 501(c)(3) organization.

Thank you for explaining that.
