After you have entered the basic details of your sale, there is an additional screen to enter information reported in boxes on your Form 1099-B.  The entry area for box 1g is on that additional screen.

If your wash sale amount is $0.49 or less, disregard the amount and do not enter the wash sale information.

Question;  what are the filing rules when wash sale figures are involved?

Can this still be efiled or does a paper copy of the bank statement need mailed also.

In my case the securities were "short term and long term covered" transactions with wash sale 1g column figures totaling < $16.

"covered" should mean that the bank institution has sent all this directly to the IRS, however the instructions in TurboTax premier suggest that a paper copy of  the statements be sent via IRS from 8453.

Any thoughts?

be sure to put the details of wash sales on your e-Filed tax return.

Then, no mailing is necessary.

ok thx.

I just wanted to reconfirm due to how Turbotax premier (UI form) advises the user, also because when the short and long gain forms have column 1g, the IRS from advises to go the 8453 route in addition to the efile.

sort of confusing.   I was theorizing that maybe the 1099-DIV from my bank under "covered" or "is reported" may not actually include 1g info or something to the IRS, thus why the IRS would want an 8453 (box 8949) with the bank summary statement pages to demonstrate columns 1g... ???

It is confusing because of the way TurboTax handles things.

Of your Box A or Box D transactions.

only transactions with adjustments have to appear on Form 8949 (e-filed, or mailed).

wash sales have an adjustment.

@StirFry

this question has been answered for you in several other threads by myself and others.

I don't know how to be more clear about what you have to do.
