1095-A question

I received a 1095-A in my name for the HEALTH Insurance Marketplace Statement I paid for my daughter. We share joint custody but I am responsible for all insurance coverage.. We rotate from year to year who claims her as a dependent. I will not be claiming her this year, can I still add the 1095-A to my tax return?

Since you say you received the form 1095-A "in your name" I assume that means your name and information is in boxes 4-6 on the form 1095-A as the recipient.  In that case you would be entering the form 1095-A information in your tax return to populate a form 8962, if required, for filing.

Having said that if there are all zeroes in column B and column C then there is no premium tax credit to claim or advanced premium tax credit to pay back.  You are not required to enter the 1095-A information in your tax return.

If there are amounts in columns B and C you will enter that on your return. You will enter the 1095-A information but be advised the tax family size will not include your daughter since she is not a dependent on your return for 2023.

However, if there are amounts in column C but zeroes in column B, then you will need to contact your marketplace insurer to get the correct column B information.  Again, you will enter the 1095-A information but be advised the tax family size will not include your daughter since she is not a dependent on your return for 2023. You may have to pay back advanced premium tax credits since your income limits will be lower without the dependent.
