1040 line 4a totals?

Hi there,

On my 1040 form, line 4a IRA distributions, it's showing the summation of two 1099-r's that I received:

(1) Traditional IRA -> Roth IRA backdoor conversion plus

(2) A rollover I did of my previous 401ks in an IRA into my current employer's 401k

Is that right?

Reason I ask is that I got another 1099-r for my after tax 401k -> Roth 401k mega backdoor conversion, which shows up in line 5a Pensions and annuities. I would have thought that (2) would have shown up there.

Thanks in advance!

They are correct.  The 1099s reflected in 4a were both initiated out of IRAs.  The other 1099-R was initiated from a 401(k), so it does not go on 4a, it goes on 5a.
