If disability income from the Veterans Administration is your only source of income for the entire tax year, then you don't need to file a tax return at all. If needed by the bank, you should have received a letter by now from the VA specifying your benefits. You can use that letter with the bank in lieu of a tax return, to help you qualify for any loan if necessary.
Additionally, since you pay no taxes (assuming disability is your only income) there is no benefit to filing a tax return since you can't get refunded what you never paid it taxes to begin with.

Unless you are having tax withheld and have some reason to expect a tax refund from tax that was withheld from your SS, then purchasing a house will not change anything,  With the new higher standard deduction many homeowners cannot use their itemized deductions now.
