1 year of School District Taxes Paid to Wrong District

Hey Everyone,

I have an estimated $700 of school district tax paid to the wrong district that I am wondering how, if at all possible, I could receive back? The initial error was caused to my wife's W-4 not being updated. We moved from the district(2902-OH) in 5/15' and didn't get the W-4 correct until 6/16'. I'm not sure why I didn't to ask this question a few years ago - hoping this is a situation of better late than never. Any idea of a department I could reach out to in order to receive a credit or ideally a refund.

I appreciate your feed back- thanks!

My first recommendation is that you call the Ohio Department of Taxation (DOT) (included link gives some tips on when it's best to call them...). Explain the error and ask for a refund.

Another option is to write a letter, again - just explain the error and ask for a refund. They may get back to you and request SD100.

In case you'd like to verify that you do live in a school district with income tax, use this link and enter your address.
