Deadline to file in Florida extended to pay and file, is the IRA contribution also extended?

Hello all…As the subject states, since the time to file and pay in Florida has been extended to May 1st due to the hurricanes, is the time to contribute to an IRA also extended to May 1st? I’m seeing mixed answers…Any help would be appreciated.

The deadline to make IRA contributions for 2024 is April 15th.  The extension for those in hurricane disaster areas is for the time to file and the time to pay, there is no mention of the time to contribute to the IRA. Since it is not specifically expressed in the relief guidelines, it should be assumed that the time to contribute has not been extended.

Yes, the date to contribute to an IRA is postponed as well.

Hmmm…I see where it says it can be postponed, but I wonder if it was for this particular instance. Is there a way to be sure?

Did you read this sentence in the link I gave you?

"Unless the news release for a particular disaster limits the relief, all the deadlines listed in Revenue Procedure 2018-58 will be postponed."
