Zero Values on 1040 as Expat with Foreign Income

All of the following lines of Form 1040 value have a zero value. I am a US citizen, living/paying taxes in Canada, with no w-2 forms from a US company. This has never happened in previous years using the software.
Line 22 - Total income
Line 37 - Adjusted gross income
Line 44 - Tax
Line 55 - Total credits
Line 63 - Total tax
Line 74 - Total payments

How do I fix this?

what does line 7 say ?   what is your total wages in US dollars?  assuming that you are able to exclude all of your foreign earned income--true??

Are you asking why it won't e-file?

If so, just add $1 of taxable interest.

You need to report your foreign wages in the foreign earned income section even if you are not claiming the foreign earned income exclusion.  To get to this location, enter foreign earned income in the Search bar at the top of the screen and click the Jump to link.

Open your return:

  1. On the first screen it will ask you what form your foreign income was reported on, you need to check a statement from my foreign employer

  2. On the next screen enter your Foreign Earned Income

  3. Then you will be asked to confirm your foreign earned income  *

  4. If you are not taking the foreign earned income exclusion and only taking foreign tax credit, on the screen that says do you want to see if you qualify to exclude your foreign earned income , click no if you do not want to or .... If you want to try to exclude your income, click yes

  5. If you clicked  'no"  the program with delete the 2555 form but it will keep your foreign wages  you entered in the software

  6. If you want to try to exclude your foreign earned income then say Yes and continue through the forms

  7. If not, go to the foreign tax credit section to claim the foreign tax credit.

  8. If you claim the exclusion, you can also claim the credit.

To go to the foreign tax credit section, enter foreign tax credit in the search bar at the top of the screen and click the Jump to link.
