Why would a 1040 show a standard deduction of less than $12,550 for a single filer?

Can you be claimed as a dependent? If so, your standard deduction for 2021 is the larger of $1,100 or your earned income plus $350 (but not more than $12,550). This is assuming that you are under 65 years old and not blind.

if your daughter can be claimed as a dependent, then on her return the standard deduction is limited as described by @rjs
