Why won't turbotax let me switch to itemized deduction, even if it says the itemized deduction would be better?!?

Is your filing status "Married Filing Separate"?  If so and if you answered the question about your spouse itemizing with "No", that could be the problem.  Spouses filing separately must either both itemize or both take the standard deduction.
