Why won't TurboTax 2023 allow me to enter property taxes for either primary or secondary homes?

The cells appear to allow input, but are locked.  This seems to have been a problem with the software for several years based on my internet search.  None of the answers work, so I'm assuming I'll have to override on Schedule A?

Are you using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions installed on your personal computer?  Or are you using the TurboTax online web-based editions?

I'm using a downloaded version for Home & Business on my desktop.

Is there a pre-filled amount of $0 in the box for entering the amount of the property taxes paid?

Yes there is a $0 in property tax on main home and $0.00 showing  for additional homes / land.

That is an indicator that there is are Supporting Details associated with that income.  There are several ways to open the Supporting Details box/window depending on your operating system.

  1. Double-click in that box
  2. Enter Ctrl+I
  3. Click on Edit at the top of the program screen and click on Add Supporting Details

You can either remove the Supporting Details or use it if there are different sources and amounts to enter

YES!  Thank you - clicking on the Box / then selecting EDIT from the menu / then adding supporting details allowed me to enter for both fields.  I will make a note in my file and hopefully the program is fixed to be more INTUITive someday!
