Why won't does TurboTax say I have a foreign address when my address is in New York. I'm trying to file from Italy.

In TurboTax Online, under My Info, check the selection under Type of mailing address.

Make sure that the correct selection has been made.

This year, I couldn't be in the U.S. these months, so I'm trying to file from Italy.  The only place I can manage my address is from the Intuit site.  There is no "Type of mailing address" field on the Address page.  I originally changed my address to my Italian location, because I thought it would be helpful if it were more accurate.  Now I've changed it back to New York, but that hasn't helped at all.

Yes, I understand your dilemma. Try doing this to see if this alleviates your issue.

  1. Reset your cache and cookies on your browser.
  2. Try updating your address again and ensuring it's set to a U.S. address
  3. Restart TurboTax – Some users fixed the issue by closing their return, quitting TurboTax, and reopening it.

Let us know if this fixes the issue.

I cleared cache and cookies, but the results were still the same. Couldn't use my US credit card and couldn't deduct Turbo Tax fees from refund because " you have a foreign address".  Not sure what you mean by " closing their return, quitting TurboTax, and reopening it.

Anyway, if that's the best I can do, I guess I'll just forget about TT, fill out the forms myself and send them in, a pain but not rocket science.
