If you included the property taxes when entering Form 1098, you do not need to enter them again in the property taxes section. This will lead to a double entry of the property taxes.

You can deduct any property taxes paid in 2021 up to a $10,000 tax limit.

I did the same thing on property taxes and mortgage interest. It’s now doubled on my return. Do I need to amend???

It depends on whether you claimed the standard deduction or itemized deductions. If you used the standard deduction, property taxes were not deducted from your federal return. You do not have to amend your federal return.

Check line 12 of Form 1040 to see whether you claimed the standard deduction.

Here are the standard deduction amounts. Or check for Schedule A. If your tax return does not have Schedule A then you do not have to amend it.

Some states offer property tax credits or deductions. If you claimed a state property tax credit or deduction, amend your state return regardless of whether you used the standard or itemized deductions on federal.

For help amending see How to Correct Federal Tax Returns.
