Why does my tax refund goes down by $640 when I enter my pre-tax HSA contribution while deductions part was already filled? Only contributed is $6,900 for 2018.

I am a 1st time HSA user. I found some answers where it suggest to wait for the next step i.e. the deductions part which was already filled for me.  I received W2c which had contribution that was missing in original W2

Now that you have entered the information from the W-2C showing the contribution that was included on your W-2, you should revisit the HSA section of your return.

Check each screen carefully to be sure that you had not already indicated that a contribution was made to your HSA when you went through that section the first time.

Thank you for the answer!! I hadn't already included the HSA but I found that it was being added to state income since HSA is taxed in California.  Newbie moment
