Why does my tax bill increase by 15,000 after I enter my foreign income (~100,000 USD) even though I qualify for the foreign income exclusion?

Many comments state Turbo Tax uses a faulty calculation that is accepted by the IRS because it obviously favors them over the tax payer.

To accurately to see how Turbo Tax determined the results of your return, we would like to see a diagnostic copy of your return. The information in this file is a sanitized copy meaning there is no personal information, only numbers so that we can troubleshoot in depth, check for calculation issues, and to see how certain items are applied. In your case, this will be used to see how your final outcome on your return was determined.  Here is how to order.

For TurboTax online, go to tax tools>tools>share my file with agent.  When this is selected, you will receive a token number.  Respond back in this thread and tell us what that token number is.

If you use the desktop version, go to the black stripe at the top of the program>online>send tax file to agent. Once you receive the token number, reply back in this thread and let us know what that token number is.

Hi, I created a token as you requested.

The first token is 1197520 , and shows my taxes with everything complete except the foreign income and has a refund of almost $3,000

The second token was after I added my $29,950 in foreign-earned income.  My taxes initially changed to owing $438 but after I completed the physical presence test, TurboTax showed I qualified for the foreign income and my taxes now showed a $1,470 refund.  The reason I did not get the full refund is that Turbo Tax recognized my foreign pay as $29,750 but only excluded $19,080.

I entered my foreign income in USD per the instructions for IRS form.

To clarify, can you send me another token again so i can determine why you did not receive the full Foreign income Exclusion. I think you sent me the first before you enter your foreign income but not the second.

To clarify, would you resend the second token#? The information from the token you sent does not match your file information.
