Why do I need to fill out a 2441 if my childcare expenses are included on my W2 for onsite care?

I pay for childcare out of my income because I work for the company providing childcare, I am still being asked for provider information on a 2441 upon reviewing my taxes to submit. Do I need to add the childcare again despite it saying to see W2 information? What do I do?

What appears in box 10 on your W-2 is the amount of money that your employer withheld to contribute to your dependent care FSA.

However, you may or may not actually spend all of this money, and any amount you don't spend gets added back to your income. The 2441 interview also asks you who you gave the money to so that the IRS can cross check that they reported that income.

Furthermore, in some cases, you may eligible for the Child and Dependent Care Credit, but TurboTax won't know that until you complete the 2441 interview.

The Child care process is not as simple as the amount in box 10.
