Why did Turbo Tax not have me enter the HSA contributions from box 12 on the W2 and show $0 on the summary?

Go to your W-2 entry and be sure that you entered the box 12 information as part of your W-2.  Any HSA contributions will be shown with code W in box 12.

When entered as part of the W-2, they are automatically transferred to the HSA section of your return where you enter more information to validate that you were eligible to make the HSA contribution.  You will not be asked to enter the contributions shown on your W-2 in this section.  It will only cover other contributions that were made and not reported on the W-2.
