I do have foreign income, but I don't qualify for the FEIE (foreign earned income exclusion) or the FTC (foreign tax credit), so I don't want or need to file this form. I've gone back through the "Interview" a dozen times trying to clarify or try something slightly different and it never changes the final outcome. I get to the end and it wants to correct a final detail, and it's the same problem with incomplete 2555-S.
(I’m guessing that you tried—among other things—just selecting “No, I know I don’t qualify to exclude my foreign income” on the screen where it asks you about that.) If this isn’t working in the interview mode, then deleting the actual form is the next thing to try.
If you’re using TurboTax Online, click on “Tax Tools” in the left menu, then on “Tools,” then “Tool Center,” then “Delete a Form.” You’ll then be looking at a list of everything on your return, with “delete” links. (If you’re using the desktop version of our program, just go to “Forms Mode,” make your selection in the list, and click on the “Delete Form” button below the bottom left corner of the form itself.)
You’ll want to delete “Form 2555-T,” “Form 2555-S,” and anything else in adjacent lines that includes “2555.” Don’t delete the “Frgn EI Tax Wks” that should be nearby (since you still have foreign income to be included on the return) at this point, but if it still isn’t working you can try deleting that worksheet also (making sure to re-enter it, of course).
I hope this works, kylejo1991, but feel free to re-post if it doesn’t and I or someone else can hopefully think of something else that will!
Having the same issue, removing form 2555 and 2555-s didn't help.
Can you clarify once you deleted the forms, are the forms added back in, or what rejection are you receiving?
I get the message that I can't e-file unless I fix form 2555-S, as I haven't entered any dates for Income Exclusion (which I don't want). Seems like a lot of people on here are having this problem, and deleting all form 2555's doesn't help.
You might try this two-tiered process to see if this works.
Now remove all entries in this section. Make sure nothing exists in this section. Scrub it clean!!!
Let us know if this works.
I am having the exact same issue - there is no way to remove 2555. This is obviously a bug and when will Intuit fix it so I can complete my return.
I have tried the two-tier process repeatedly with Turbo Tax Premier and it continues to put 2555 back in even after following each step.
The only thing I think I could do now is start my taxes all over again in a new file - is there another way?
Thank you.
