Why can’t I add my self-employment expenses? It asks me to choose types of expense but then it doesn’t allow me to enter any amounts for anything and keeps going back

You can enter your self-employment expenses. 

 

Here's how to do this in TurboTax Online:

  • Navigate to Federal > Wages & Income > Self-employment income and expenses
  • Select or create your business
  • Choose  "Add expenses for this work"
  • Select  the category. For example, "supplies" and choose continue at the bottom of the page
  • In the list of expenses, "supplies" will now appear.
  • Choose the pencil icon to add the amount
