Which to use a main residence

So my late husband(passed in early Jan. 2019) and I had two homes in 2019 our main home which was sold in March of 2019 and a 2nd home which I moved into after the house sale. I paid property taxes on both homes in 2019.   For my Tax return in 2019 which home should I consider my main home.  I was thinking the home I moved into, but now I'm not so sure.
could someone help with this question.

Thanks,

LisaV

For entering property tax on your federal tax return, it doesn't matter which home you consider your main home. All the property tax that you paid gets added together, and only the total appears on your tax return. TurboTax just asks about your main home and additional homes to try to make sure you don't forget anything.

If there is a deduction or credit for property tax on your state tax return, it might have different rules about what you can include. The rules would be different for each state.
