The standard mileage rate is the easiest choice. You have to track mileage each year regardless of whether you deduct mileage or actual expenses.
If this is the first year that you have driven your car for business, you will need to use the standard mileage rate or you will have to deduct actual vehicle expenses every year that follows. After the first year (if you used mileage) you can alternate depending on which deduction gives you the greatest tax benefit.
