To enter self employment marketing expenses in TurboTax Self Employed:

·       Arrive at the Your 2017 self-employed work summary

·       Click the Edit button

·       Navigate to the Here’s your info page

·       Click the Add expenses for this work button

·       Arrive at the Tell us about any expenses page

·       Scroll down to and click the radio button to the left of the Advertising category

Click the Continue button, bottom right of the page

·       Follow the prompts and online instructions

Thanks for the follow up.  I know where the "Advertising" category is, however, Advertising falls under the umbrella of Marketing.  Where does the rest of "marketing" expenses go?  I don't see a category for this.  Like public relations, community involvement, etc.

The data you enter into TurboTax will populate the Schedule C  <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040sc.pdf">https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040sc.pdf</a>
You will note an Advertising expenses category but not a marketing category. Enter your description of the marketing expenses in the fields provided in the Advertising category and the dollar amount.

Ok thanks.  That's weird because they are taxed differently unless that has changed this year.
