To claim the deduction on the taxes paid on the purchase of an RV, you would enter this on the form Schedule A (Itemized Deductions). If the RV is being financed and you are not already claiming a mortgage interest deduction on a 2nd home, the interest paid for the RV would be deductible as well. The interest paid would also be entered on form Schedule A.
Hope this helps.
Thanks but that doesnt answer my question. I asked how to navigate to the correct place on tt2017 deluxe. Last years version was more intuitive.
Other answers from Turbo Tax on this subject state that it doesn't matter if this type of interest (no 1098) it is reported on line 10 (interest reported on a 1098). This does not make sense as there is a specific line on Schedule A - 11 for interest not reported on a 1098. It seems to me that when the IRS matches up the 1098 forms with the applicable tax returns, you will get a letter from the IRS asking why. In the past, Turbotax had the option to check no 1098 received and the dollars flowed to line 11. I don't understand the change in software to something less than accurate.
