Where do I enter my supplemental property tax paid in 2019? Should I total it with my Secured Property Tax?

You can either add the supplemental property tax to the secured property tax, or enter it on its own using the steps below.  The total property tax that you paid will be included on your Schedule A.  It is not broken out into separate categories.

 

To go to the section of the tax return to enter property tax not reported with your mortgage 1098, use these steps:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “property tax” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to property tax
  • Click on the blue “Jump to property tax” link and enter your information
