Where do I enter an amount for car insurance if I can deduct some usage of my car as a business expense?

Here's how to do this in TurboTax Online:

  • Navigate to Federal > Wages & Income > Self-employment income and expenses
  • Edit the business
  • In the Expense section, locate "vehicle" in your list of expenses, choose the pencil icon to edit
  • Continue through the interview. If you get to a screen that asks if you want to take the standard mileage, you will have to say no in order to deduct the insurance. ‌Enter only the insurance you paid for during the time you used your car for business purposes. If you don't have enough expenses to make this beneficial, remember to change it back to standard mileage.
