I know I must sound crazy, but after entering the total pension payments received, I expected to see a place to report RMD distributions. But the program stated I was through with income without even asking about my taxable RMDs.
Do you have separate RMD from IRA or 401K? You should have a 1099R for each plan. Enter each 1099R separately. when you are done entering a 1099R it should ask if you have another. Maybe you didn't go far enough through the 1099R section.
Go back and enter them.
Enter a 1099R under
Federal Taxes Tab or Personal (Home & Business)
Wages & Income at the top
Then scroll way down to Retirement Plans and Social Security,
Then IRA, 401(k), Pension Plans (1099R) - click Start or Revisit
There are 4 boxes. Be sure to pick the right box for the kind of 1099R you got.
If you are filing a Joint return be sure to pick which person it is for.
Is your birthday entered in the personal info section? TurboTax will ask if the distributions on Form 1099-R represent a required minimum distribution (RMD) when you enter the form.
Your 1099-R issuer is required to follow RMD rules and regulations, so if you received a distribution and you're at least 72 years young, you can be almost certain you received an RMD.
Here's how to enter your 1099-R:
You should get a screen that looks similar to the one below.
I was amazed at how many offered advice on answering my question. Thank you so much. I've worked it out, and was able to continue on. Thanks again
I do not see any of the screens you report. No "Pension Payers" text at all.
