We have tested Schedule C Home Office Deduction entry but are unable to reproduce the experience you have seen. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2024" file to test this issue further.
If you would be willing to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information, please follow these instructions:
In TurboTax Desktop, open your return and go to Online in the TurboTax header. (On a Mac computer, choose Share or Help.)
We will then be able to see the same experience you are having. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and provide you with a resolution.
Please try posting a screenshot of the token from your return. The Community filters see the number before the dash as private information and blank it out.
Thank you for that special effort. We'll take a look and let you know if we find a resolution.
The Form 8829 Worksheet of your return calculates a loss on Line 9, mostly because only 30% of your gross income is connected to the use of your home office. Because you have a loss, no home office deduction is allowed (calculations are not necessary). However, the excess can be carried over to future years when you have sufficient income.
To view the worksheet, click the box on Form 8829 Line 8, then click the magnifying glass to QuickZoom to the calculations.
