Here are some ways to help you address the concern with TurboTax insisting on foreign financial assets:
Review Foreign Assets Section:
- Sign in to your TurboTax account.
- Use the search box to type "form 8938" and select "Jump to link"
- Follow the prompts to confirm you do not have foreign accounts
- Sign in to your TurboTax account and select "Pick up where you left off."
- From the left menu, select "Tax Tools," then "Tools."
- In the pop-up window, choose "Delete a form."
- Find Form 8938 (Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets) and delete it
Check 1099-INT or 1099-DIV Forms:
- Use the search box (magnifying glass at the top right) to search for "1099-DIV" and click the jump link.
- Click on the pencil icon to review entries on the 1099-DIVs.
- Ensure that the "FATCA filing requirement" box is not checked on these forms. Sometimes, this box gets checked automatically when importing data
