The Specific Ownership Tax (SOT) that is part of your vehicle registration in Colorado is deductible on your federal return. This is because it is based on the value of the car (as reduced by its age). Please see www.colorado.gov/pacific/dmv/taxes-and-fees

You may have to call your county tax assessor to find out what part of your vehicle registration fee is the SOT.
