What is the hold up on form 2210? Why do I need to wait until February 22 to be able to complete my filing?

I am being penalized for underpayment of my estimated taxes. (I actually paid more than the amount that TT suggested for each quarter when I filed last year, so this is very irritating, but whatever.) Is the hold up on the part of TT or the IRS? Why can't I file now?

Yes, you should wait until after Form 2210 is available to file.

Form 2210 is used to determine whether or not you have to pay a penalty for not making enough estimated tax payments. It is likely that the penalty will be waived with your Form 2210.

You should wait until after Form 2210 is available to file your return, but you can pay the taxes sooner if you want to. The IRS has several payment options on their website.

OK. Is the form not available due to an issue with the IRS or is Turbo Tax's system simply not updated with this form yet?

It is an IRS issue. Other tax programs will not have it available either.
