I live in a group home where I pay monthly rent from disability benefits. Does this count as a halfway house?

No, a halfway house is where people with criminal backgrounds or drug abuse tendencies get help.

For this purpose, "halfway house" ONLY refers to a place in connection with jail or prison (such as in place of living in jail/prison or a place just after leaving jail/prison).

It relates to a halfway house as part of the penal system. Any question in TurboTax will refer to this definition as it relates to income earned within the penal system not qualifying for Earned Income Credit.
