Turbo tax is asking me for a company name
I don't even know what it's talking about.

If some of your earned income is from a business such as from a Schedule C, F or K-1 then the Calif FTB wants to know the business name, address, EIN, etc.

When claiming the California Earned Income Tax Credit, Form 3514 line 1a asks if the IRS has in a previous year disallowed your federal EIC. That's a Yes/No question and the Calif FTB requires a response.

It depends.

In order to qualify for the California Earned Income Credit, the requirements include:

  • Being at least 18 years old
  • Meet earned income limits
  • Have a valid social security number
  • Not file as married filing separately
  • Live in California for more than half of the year

Please see the attached for more details on the maximum income you can have to receive this credit.
