What are the income guidelines for claiming child tax credit?

I made under $3,000 last year. I was wondering if I could receive the child tax credit.

The Child Tax Credit starts to phase out at incomes of:

  • $110,000 on a joint return
  • $75,000 for an unmarried individual
  • $55,000 for a married individual filing a separate return

A summary of the credit can be found here: Child Tax Credit

TurboTax will apply it automatically.

Hope this helps.

Does this mean that I would still receive a portion of the child tax credit even though my income is so low?

Yes, you would, assuming you have a qualifying child.

To clarify, if your income is under $3000 with a qualifying child, you would be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, but not the similar sounding Child Tax Credit.
