We have a foster child, with no SSN, and so we must use an ITIN When software does checks for child tax credit (form 8812), turbotax has an error. Can I override this?

I can't figure out what to disable in the software entries to get all the deductions correct without enabling this error to occur in the child tax credit considerations.  The software equates that the ITIN is the same as the SSN, whereas the child tax credit requires an SSN.  Is there a way to enter info on the form so that I can still e-file this, without having to manually print and mail???  Otherwise, I'm totally losing the benefit of purchasing this software!  Thanks in advance.

No, you may not claim the child tax credit for a child with an ITIN. The child must have an SSN to be a qualifying child eligible for the child tax credit (CTC), additional child tax credit (ACTC), refundable child tax credit (RCTC), or the nonrefundable child tax credit (NCTC) Ref: IRS IRS Publication
