We had Solar Panels installed in 2017 but couldn't take the deductions until this year. I'm not seeing any place to declare them. HELP

You can take the Home Energy Credit for the solar panels on your 2018 return if the installation was not completed until 2018.  TurboTax will generate a Form 5695 (Home Energy Credit) by doing the following:

To generate Home Energy Credits (Form 5695) on your tax return.

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Under Your Home
  • On Home Energy Credits click on the start or update button

What is the reason you couldn't take the deductions until this year?
