Very confused about IRS 2025 W4 Calculator

I just used the 2025 W4 calculator on the IRS site for my husband & I. When it created the W4 forms, it has my form withholding an extra $165 from my paycheck. On my husband's form, it has the following number for step 3 "-7471". I'm confused why it is putting a negative number there. Can anyone help me understand this? Thank you!

If the calculator says you should withhold $165 more, it means you aren't withholding enough taxes currently.  Regarding step 3, is the part of the form that calculates the credits for dependents.

I recommend that you review the IRS calculator once more to verify if you obtain the same results.  You can also use the following TurboTax calculator:

I am having the same issue with the negative number on box 3. I am married and only have one job while filing jointly. My wife is a stay home mom.

I posted this question on Reddit and someone said there have been some "bugs" with the 2025 calculator.
