Under "Tell us about the points you paid", under "Points only appear on our Closing Disclosure..", there is a box for "Origination charges". Shouldn't this be for points?

Just making sure this wasn't an oversight by TurboTax. Seems to ask for the origination charge rather than the cost for the points.

You are correct.  The origination charges are points and can be amortized over the life of the loan.

 

They can be called:

  • Points
  • Origination Charges
  • Pre-Paid interest
