TurboTax only gave me the deduction for 1 of my 2 children because the eldest turned 17 last year. I just heard that you can claim the deduction anyway, please advise.

I have already filed, and want to know if I can get more back because of it.

If you listed your children as dependents, you got the dependent deduction for both of them. What you did not get, and can not get is the Child Tax Credit for the one who turned 17 in 2016. The CTC has an absolute age limit and there are no exceptions to it.
