We have two kids, qualify for EIC, and TurboTax has assessed it properly.
However now I am reviewing the forms before filing, and I see that Schedule EIC line 4a has been left blank. The rest is filled in appropriately. The EIC form has a warning from the IRS to "fill in all lines that apply to each qualifying child."
It seems like I should check "Yes" for both kids. But in "forms" mode in TurboTax, if I try to click those boxes, an "X" only appears while clicking - then disappears as soon as I release the mouse button.
Do I need to check those boxes? How to get TurboTax to do so?
Thanks,
-Daniel
No, you don't need to check those boxes. As long as Line 5 has the child's relationship and Line 6 has a number greater than 6, the credit will be applied. You can see the calculation of the credit amount on the EIC worksheet. As long as the NO boxes are not checked, there won't be any issues.

I have a child that turned 18 in August 2022. He was a high school student thru June 2022. Therefore, line 4 needs to be checked to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit but there is no way to check it through the Turbo Tax program. Also when I try to files a tax return for him, it asks if he is a student but does not give the option to check high school, only college or certified trade schools. This is a serious problem with the program... I have raved about Turbo Tax for years as it has been able to meet my needs, but this year not so much.... Can anyone help with this?
