TurboTax is crediting me for the Child Tax Credit in the amount of $500. The only problem is that my child is over 18. Why am I getting this credit?

My child is a mentally handicapped adult.

it's not the child tax credit. this is the credit for other dependents. (a dependent that doesn't qualify for the child tax credit)  - children under 19 qualify.
