I entered by W2 information, and was asked
"Did XX (my name) provide on-site child care?"
Turbotax says this information is needed because I reported numbers in Box 10 (dependent care benefit) on my W-2.
How shall I answer this question? Is something wrong here?
I searched online and people are often asked by Turbotax if if their employer offers on-site childcare.
What's the definition of on-site child care? I was taking care of my son (4 years old) when he's at home, and he did go to a child-care facility provided by my employer in 2021. Shall I answer "Yes" to this question?
You said, " he did go to a child-care facility provided by my employer in 2021". You would answer "yes" to the question about employer provided day care.
Employer-provided would mean that the employer offers a more affordable daycare option than paying a full price for a daycare that could possibly out of the way of going to work.
It is not a simple or inexpensive program to get up and running, but there are benefits for both the employer and employee that goes far beyond the surface dollars that are seen.
The companies would be able to receive tax credits that will enable a lower cost daycare facility for the employees, and also affords the employee a peace of mind and less stress of getting their child to daycare and knowing they are right there.
I appreciate your answer, but the question on Turbotax was
"Did XX (my name) provide on-site child care?"
The question on Turbotax was not "Did your employer provide on-site child care".
Is something wrong here?
Shall I still answer "yes" to the question "Did XX (my name) provide on-site child care?"?
Thanks.
