Turbo tax online keeps changing the availability for form 8910!!

I need to file my taxes but I was delayed because the form for the EV motor vehicle tax credit isn’t supported on turbo tax online and would be available on 2/20/2020. Which is frustrating because it was just stating 2/12/2020 yesterday and before that it was a different date. It seems it’s getting pushed further and further back and at this point I’m wondering if I should just file somewhere else??? Anyone else having this problem??????

The IRS has to finalize the form and approves it for e-filing before the form is available on TurboTax. Form 8910 is expected to be available on 02/20/2020.

Will IRS 8936 be coming too? (electric plug-in vehicle credit)

Form 8936 will be in this week's release. We do not yet have an exact date/time, which is why the form is currently absent from the list we normally provide that contains the expected release dates.

I have this post on my watch list today and will return this afternoon to let you know I have learned, or sooner if I get confirmation of a release date.

I apologize for the delays and all of the confusion about this form.

We know it's frustrating to wait and even more frustrating when we cannot provide exact dates and times. It is important that we provide an accurate, quality product for our customers and sometimes that takes a little longer than we'd like.

How about form 8615? It was originally supposed to be available on February 5th, then on the 12th, then on the 22nd, and now it says the 27th. When is the document expected to be released and why is the date changing every week?

Are you sure you need the Form 8910, Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit?  Most individuals use the Form 8936, Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit.  The Form 8936 is available now in both the online and desktop editions.

For an energy-efficient vehicle tax credit

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home & Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Cars and Other Things You Own
  • On Energy-Efficient Vehicles, click the start or update button
  • On Energy-Efficient Vehicle Charging Station, click the start or update button

Or enter energy efficient vehicle in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to energy efficient vehicle

The Form 8910 is for an alternative motor vehicle is a vehicle with at least four wheels that qualifies as a qualified fuel cell vehicle.

Qualified fuel cell vehicle. This is a new vehicle propelled by power derived from one or more cells that
convert chemical energy directly into electricity by combining oxygen with hydrogen fuel, and that meets certain additional requirements.

Is this the type of vehicle you own?

The Form 8910 estimated date being available is 03/31/2022.  This date may change but right now that is the date.

I understand but not later than 3/31/22? Because taxes are due on April, mi question is if the form will be ready by April?

The form should be ready by then based on my experience in years past. If it is not then you can simply file an extension while awaiting the form. If you will owe no further tax due to this (ie, TurboTax doesn’t currently say you need to pay $8,000) you can just file the extension and no additional tax payment is necessary

Form 8910 expired December 2021, do you have new form approved/uploaded yet?  I can't file my 2022 tax due to this gating form.
