The prompt asks "Did Ashley's High Deductible Health Plan coverage lapse in 2023 due to disability?" But by wife, Ashley, was covered for the entire year. How do I fix?

It is assuming that my wife's coverage ended, and I cannot see where it got that. I cannot find where to change it to reflect her real status of being covered by the HDHP for the entire year.

  • If your spouse did not have an HSA in 2022, then answer NONE.
  • If your spouse had an HSA but did not contribute to HER HSA in 2022, then answer NONE. (Remember that each of you can have an HSA).
  • If your spouse was covered by an HDHP policy for each month of 2022, then answer NONE.

 

In all likelihood, your spouse does not have an HSA, so she never went through the HSA interview to tell TurboTax that she had HDHP coverage, so TurboTax got confused and thought that maybe her coverage "lapsed". Sound familiar? If so, see bulleted list.
