The law changed and Trump passed it to where we can go back on our taxes and get many deductions and child credit now

New laws passed for child credit on past filing taxes

The tax code changes are in effect for tax year 2025, which you will file next year.  They do not affect your 2024 tax return.

Your 2024 tax return is not affected by the newly passed bill.   Your 2025 tax return that you will file in 2026 will be affected.   You do not have any need to "go back" on your 2024 return or expect more deductions or an increased child tax credit for 2024.

Some provisions of the law will take effect retroactive to January 1, 2025, and some provisions do not take effect until January 1, 2026. There is nothing to “go back” to.
