Software Bug - Won't Let Me Edit Job-Related Expenses?

Hello, I'm running TurboTax Premier 2019.

Under Federal Taxes --> Deductions and Credits there is a section called "Job-Related Expenses" under "Employment Expenses."

I totally understand "what's new with job-related expenses this year" and that

The Job-Related Expenses Deduction is only available to certain people (

Armed Forces reservist, Qualified performing artist, Fee-basis state or local government official, or certain disabled persons).

However, at one point, I was able to select "I wasn't in any of these professions or situations" and then say "I have no home-office expenses" and then give an Asset Summary,  179 carryovers, work expenses, and "any other expenses."

This is important to me, because these values affect my STATE return.

But now when I select "I wasn't in any of these professions or situations" it immediately states "Great! thanks for that info. These job-related expenses could help you save money on your state return. We'll check to see if they qualify as we gather more info."

I see the occupations for both myself and my spouse, but when I click "EDIT" next to the expenses it kicks me out/doesn't allow me to edit any expenses if I select "I wasn't in any of these professions or situations."

If I select any of the first four options, then I am allowed to enter these expenses and their values.

Can someone please FIX this bug - it wasn't doing this before, but now I can't EDIT any work expenses if I choose "I wasn't in any of these professions or situations."

I hope this was clear and made sense. Thank you for any help!

You may want to log out, clear your cookies and cache, and then log back in to see if that helps.

Here's how:

Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:

A full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax, so sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files).

Here are the official instructions for the most popular browsers:

Apple's official support site doesn't appear to contain instructions for clearing the cache in Safari. Your best bet is to search the Internet for clear Safari cache or similar search terms.

Hi Gisele,

Thank you for the reply. I am not using the Web Browser. I am using the software version of TurboTax (a downloaded executable installation file for Windows 10).

Your advice would be a reasonable choice for the web-based version of TurboTax, but this is the software version (all latest updates applied).

Would really appreciate a follow-up to this or if someone could look into this and confirm the bug. Thank you.

You should be able to type   form 2106   into the search box and then clicking the "jump to form 2106" link.

I'm having the exact same issue.  I'm using TurboTax downloaded sofware on my Mac.    I can update all the info but then after I save it still says "needs review" and does not add to my deductions appropriately.  On the phone with TT now and hoping for a resolution.
